Balinese Handicrafts

Bali is known for it's silver but you may not know that they also make a myriad of gorgeous handicrafts.
Textiles, wood carving, stone carving are just a few of the beautiful handmade items you can buy in Bali.

On a recent trip to Bali I picked up a few things.

Not only do they make these charming stone carvings but the wood carvings are also very beautiful.

The Balinese have a knack with combining patterned textiles together.  I found these lovely cotton rugs which are reversable and made of many different batik patterned fabrics.  I have neutral decor so these aren't as colorful as many of the rugs available.

All over Bali you can purchase beautiful hand woven baskets.  I also found this hand woven basket completely covered in seed beeds.  This is just a small basket; larger baskets in many sizes and shapes are also available.

Balinese Jeweller

I was recently in Bali and met a wonderful master silversmith by the name of Wayan Sunarta who teaches classes in his family compound in Ubud.  His apprentice Made made this beautiful bracelet for me.   If you are interested in taking classes with Wayan contact him at www.chezmoniquejewelry.com.  (Go to trip advisor for reviews).
